NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY!

Mathematics day is celebrated on December 22 every year. Celebrations are done in the honor of birthd anniversary of mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan. He had gifted the world around 3,500 mathematical formulae that scientists have still not been able to completely prove till date. He was just 32 years old, when he took last breath due to Tuberculosis.

The mathematics magician had made an extra-ordinary contribution to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series and continued fractions. From Compilling over 3,900 mathematical equations and results to getting discoveries named after him, his countless assertions in mathematics introduced new vistas of mathematics research.

The aim behind celebrating the National Mathematics Day is to elevate awareness among people about the significance of mathematics for development of humanity.

Srinivasa was born in Madras on 22nd December in a Tamil Brahmin Iyenger family. A self-taught mathematician who made remarkable contribution to the world of mathematics, he was among most influential mathematician of his times.

HISTORY
This day was first observed by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He declared this day as National Mathematics Day on 26th February 2012. On this day Prime Minister was visiting Madras city in order to pay his tribute to Ramanujan’s achievements and celebrating his 125th birth anniversary. Since then, 22 December is recognized as National Mathematics Day for paying honor to Srinivasa’s work in the field of Mathematics.

We at Deepshikha Group of colleges pay our warm regards to Mathematics Magician for leaving his golden footprints behind. We take pride in celebrating an Indian achievement by following the steps he left behind.
